Detroit, Mich., Dec. 24, 2013Lambert, one of the Midwest’s largest public relations and investor relations firms, announced the launch of a Public Relations Fellowship program with Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr and his communications staff.  A team of eight Fellows, all Associates at Lambert, will be serving the EM’s Communications Office under the supervision of Orr’s spokesperson and Communications Director Bill Nowling to help meet the needs of the regional and national media and to communicate to the community about the activities and outcomes coming from Orr and his team.

The City of Detroit has asked businesses to step up and help out wherever possible to do their part in improving the city, and Lambert is among the first to align its business services directly with the City’s needs. The Associates in the EM Fellowship program have expertise in media relations, issues management and community engagement, making them ideal resources for the diverse audiences and activities of the EM office.

“This is one of the biggest news stories in the country and could be the turnaround success story of our lifetime, and we wanted to be part of it,” said Jeff Lambert, President of Lambert.  “We moved downtown to be part of the momentum, our clients are invested in the City, but we felt like we needed to get even more in the game and take an active role in the rebuilding of Detroit.”

Each Lambert EM Fellow will be on rotation for a week onsite at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center in the heart of downtown Detroit.  They are from all three Lambert offices – Detroit, Lansing and Grand Rapids – and hail from various hometowns throughout the state including Traverse City, Flint, South Lyon, Muskegon and East Lansing.  The Fellows will play an essential role in talking about the city’s restructuring efforts to a variety of local, national and international audiences, spreading the positive news about Detroit, while gaining insight into the biggest story in Michigan and one of the most prominent in the nation.
“Detroit is a daily global page-one story and the PR fellows are thick in the middle of it. These Fellows are helping tell the positive story of Detroit’s turnaround and banking some great experience along the way,” said Bill Nowling, Communications Director and Spokesperson for Kevyn Orr. “Emergency Manager Orr is grateful the professionals from Lambert & Associates and other Detroit businesses are answering the city’s call during this historic time.”
