DETROIT – August 1, 2017 – Lambert, Michigan’s largest public relations and public affairs firm and a top-15 investor relations firm nationally, today announced the expansion of its Detroit team with the addition of William Nowling as a partner and managing director. Nowling will lead Lambert Detroit office, serve as a member of the agency’s leadership team, and provide strategic counsel to the firm’s clients.
Nowling leverages more than 20 years of integrated public relations and marketing experience for clients navigating change and employing strategies that influence decision-makers and thought leaders. Most recently, he was the senior executive for global PR firm Finn Partners leading business development and strategic planning for some of the firm’s top brands. Prior to that, he served as spokesman and lead communication adviser for the City of Detroit’s Chapter 9 bankruptcy, working daily with the city’s restructuring professionals to tell and explain the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.
“Bill has been a highly respected peer, formidable competitor and even partner on projects in the past, and we’re thrilled to have someone with his talent and communications breadth leading our growing Detroit office and continue our momentum nationally,” said Jeffrey Lambert, CEO of Lambert. “His commitment to developing people and client relationships, coupled with his varied background spanning PR, financial communications, public affairs and crisis management at the highest global levels will be a key asset to our clients and our culture. Likewise, his investment as a partner reflects our mutual long-term path to dominate the communications landscape in Detroit and key niche markets coast to coast.”
As a crisis communicator, Nowling has worked on a variety of emergent issues for clients and is a trusted C-suite advisor. He frequently speaks locally and nationally about risk and crisis communication and maintains a robust speaking and conference presentation schedule for clients, industry professionals, and noted media. Additionally, Nowling helped lead the successful issue management campaign allowing Michigan’s largest health insurer to become a non-profit mutual insurance company. He also served as communication director and spokesman for Michigan Governor Rick Snyder’s successful “One Tough Nerd” campaign for governor.
Nowling holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in risk and crisis communication at Wayne State University in Detroit.
