As the PR and social media agency of record for NAIAS, preparing for and executing the auto show was one for the books!

It’s been over a week since the 2019 North American International Auto Show ended. The show floor has no crowds, no media scrums and no product specialists bringing an overwhelming sense of accomplishment for the amount of work that went into planning the last ever January show—an event that was here and gone before we could even blink an eye.

Just three weeks prior, the show kicked off with the fourth annual Drive Home, and public and press events quickly followed with The Gallery event, previews (PressIndustry and Charity) and Public Days. And, like that, the show was over. It’s a final recap the world may have heard time and time again—which may make the show seem as if it’s effortlessly put together with a rinse-wash-repeat plan—but there’s MUCH more to it.

After leading the show’s social media strategy since 2015, the Lambert team earned the expanded role to lead and execute media relations for the 2019 show—a role the firm played years ago and can attest to the hours of planning, strategy and brainpower it takes to put together an event of this size.

The Lambert team worked alongside executive director, Rod Alberts, and the 2019 NAIAS co-chairmen, Bill Golling and Doug North, to develop media relations and social media strategies to drive attendance numbers and engagement for the 2019 show, as well as generate excitement for the revamped 2020 show.

The Lambert team collectively worked more than 1,000 hours (which includes prep work for other clients who participated in the show), drank at least 50 cups of coffee (but, let’s be honest, likely more) and got an average of four hours of sleep on a good night.

It was an honor to be among the various partners who work tirelessly—truly every year—to bring everything together before the NAIAS doors open and Detroit becomes a trending topic around the world. We cannot wait to see what June 2020 has in store for us!
