Grand Rapids, Oct. 18, 2013 – Lambert is a lean, mean, public relations machine!
Lambert, one of Michigan’s top-ranked public relations agencies and the state’s largest investor relations firm, announced today that it was named one of Crain’s Detroit Business 2013 Michigan’s Healthiest Employers program. The awards and best practices program is presented by Crain’s Detroit Business and MiBiz to recognize companies around the state whose policies, programs and culture create healthy employees and healthy workplaces.
Lambert treats the company wellness program as a culture builder as well as a recruiting and retention tool. It has also been a business development tool. Some of its Zumba classes – on a rooftop deck – are open to clients, vendors, partners and the general public. Through the program, Lambert has seen a net decline in body mass index, including two employees who lost more than 40 pounds each. Additionally, two smokers quit, a dozen staffers regularly participate in company-sponsored yoga and Zumba classes, and absenteeism is down across the company.
“Our wellness programs are a top priority of our staff. We work with a number of clients and initiatives that promote healthy living, ranging from health care facilities and providers to supporting Michigan’s Smoke-Free air law, so we felt Lambert needed to have an equally high level of commitment to wellness,” said Jeff Lambert, president and managing partner of Lambert “We encourage balancing work with healthy activities and eating habits by tracking our employees’ activities, from individual goals to team competitions, and everyone earns points to decide the winning teams.”
Education programs take place at the YMCA, where the firm has a corporate membership. The Y does biometric testing and provides tips on nutrition as well as classes. In addition to a company wellness newsletter, Lambert gives cash reimbursement for wellness activities.
Michigan’s Healthiest Employers is a statewide program with a goal of showcasing how companies are using wellness programs to make a positive impact on their employees’ lives, both at work and at home.
