Katie Merx is a Managing Director in Lambert’s Detroit office. She leads a team of communications and PR professionals who are passionate about helping automotive and mobility companies successfully navigate the transition to electrification, autonomy and more efficient and sustainable methods of moving goods, people and society forward.
Katie has more than 25 years of experience as a journalist, communicator, team leader and trusted executive adviser. She has worked for and with trade journals, the world’s largest media organizations and everything in between. And she has advised executives at auto-tech startups and Global 50 corporations how to successfully position their companies to achieve their business goals in the dynamic automotive and mobility space.
Katie joined the Lambert team in June 2022 to help more automotive, mobility and renewable energy companies achieve their business goals and transform the way society moves. Prior to joining Lambert, Katie was CEO of Merx Communications, where she primarily provided communications strategy, media relations and financial communications to automotive and mobility startups. Previously she managed global media relations, executive communications, financial communications, corporate communications, crisis communications and reputation management for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Marathon Petroleum Corp. and Owens Corning.
Katie is a Pulitzer-awarded journalist and a Cicero-winning speechwriter. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
Katie has run 12 Ironman triathlons, one ultramarathon stage race and summited two glacial volcanoes. She spends her free time plotting her next adventures.
