Director, Digital & Social Strategy
Derek DeVries is director of digital and social strategy at Lambert. His areas of expertise include digital marketing, social media strategy, crisis communications, online reputation management, social listening, web development, and counsel on all things Internet-related.
Derek currently works with clients that include the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), Boulder Canyon Foods, Comfort Research, Greatland Corporation, Ranir, Glynlyon, the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, and Wolverine World Wide.
Prior to joining Lambert, Derek worked for several PR/marketing agencies and spent over a decade in higher education providing public relations, social media marketing and communications support for Grand Rapids Community College. In addition to his duties at Lambert, Derek occasionally teaches advertising/public relations part-time at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) and advises the GVSU Public Relations Student Society of America chapter as well as its student-run firm, Grand PR.
Derek also frequently writes for industry publications and speaks to professional groups regionally and across the country.
Derek is a past president of the West Michigan Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (WMPRSA), and serves as Board Chair for Well House, a Grand Rapids-based nonprofit providing permanent low-cost housing to those experiencing homelessness.
Derek holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communications from GVSU.
Derek used to throw boomerangs competitively in the United States Boomerang Association.
